Mississippi John Hurt is my most favorite musician. I have learned a lot by listening to his old albums. I've been at it for many years, and there's still so much to learn. He was a genius and I regret that I never met him.

In recent months, I have been listening to many of the great blues performers, and only slightly familiar with Mississippi John Hurt. Having purchased his CDs I have listened to them almost exclusively. His technique and skill as a guitarist, as well as the emotion and sincerity in his voice, make him one of my favorite performers of all time. Though I have been a guitarist nearly forty years, I am in complete awe at what this great man did. How I wish I could have seen him perform, and met him personally. Mississippi John Hurt is a treasure, and his music will live forever. Thank you John, for being the man you were!

John Smith Hurt is my greatest inspiration as a Country Blues guitarist and as a human being. I wish I could go back in time and spend time with this great man. I would like to visit Avalon one day and see his old home/museum.

I am the grand-nephew of the late John Hurt. 'Got to know him very well. He slept at our house many nights. I learned to play his style very well. I'd love to share the memories of my grand-pa's brother. E-mail: nancy.olson5@verizon.net

I love Mississippi John Hurt's playing. I am a guitar player in New Orleans who has been very inspired over the years by Mississippi John Hurt. I'd like to know more about the museum dedicated to him.

Mississippi John Hurts fingerstyle guitar playing is an example of musical perfection. No extra notes, concise and to the point with exquisite tone.Anyone interested in playing fingerstyle guitar are doing themselves a disservice if they don't study his music.Taste over flash, tone over speed,John you are the man.

As a singer songwriter myself I idolise John beyond belief. I sing about him on my album Skoodle's Ark on song 9 of the CD. This song has got on the radio quite a bit here in Australia (Northern territory) Wish I could play guitar like him

Well, great musicians like Mr. Hurt sure are missed to this day. He is one of the reasons I picked up a guitar to start with in my late 20's. Ron in Memphis
