James Marshall Hendrix - Jimi Hendrix

b. November 27, 1942  -  d. September 18, 1970

Jimi Hendrix - He was ahead of his time and an icon of his time. Jimi took the Blues, R&B, Rock, some Jazz, British Pop and a few other things (like the U.S. National Anthem) and gave the world something outrageous and unique. The sound, the look, the lyrics, the lifestyle, the guitar, the clothes, the stage antics, the humility, the fun, the laughter, the sexiness, the ups, the downs, the uppers and downers, the changes, out of control, yet under control, until...

Jimi's Memorial  The original marker is still there, but where's the gold leaf trim? Someday, there is also supposed to be a life-size statue of Jimi with his Stratocaster. This was the plan of Jimi's father, Al Hendrix, who passed away on April 17, 2002 at the age of 82. There is some controversy over the handling of Jimi's estate, and some say that even his memorial is caught up in disagreements about its management.

September - 2005
It's reported that some visitors have written with markers on the memorial in attempts to leave evidence of their feelings for Jimi.
Better to 'keep his grave clean*' and leave a note at the Jimi Hendrix Virtual Final Resting Place, here on DBG! (* see Blind Lemon Jefferson)
